The journey so far - 10 - Manchanbele Resrvoir

Manchanbele Dam is one of the major water sources that provide water supply to the Silicon city of India, Bangalore.
Destination:  Manchanbele, Bangalore.
Distance from Bangalore: Approx. 35 kms from Banashankari Temple.
Route:  Drive towards Mysore and further Nayandahalli junction, take right soon after Rajarajeswari Dental college towards Dodda Aaladhamara, Big banyan tree. At the small junction about 3 kms after Big banyan tree, take right and drive about 5-6 kms. Vehicle can be taken until the waters.
To Do:  Relax on the banks of the transparent & wavy waters. Listen to the rhythm when the flowing wind plays touch and go on the water surface. Enjoy the serene and calm atmosphere. Bird watchers can spot some rare species here and also some water bound birds. The low raising mountain backdrops are a sight of delight.
Stay: On the water front.
Food:  There are few village dhabas on the way back at about 2kms & further but may need prior notice if incase your group is too big in number!
Highlights of the place:  The ruffling sound of water when it touches the banks. It is absolute calmness. You can even play some games in the grasslands on the banks. The really deep waters, starting right from the banks are also a highlight!
Best time to visit: You might spot the jawaans on a rowing practice on an early morning! Sunset might be glorious here, never seen though!
Places nearby:  Army camp, Tippegondanahalli Reservoir, Dodda Aaladhamara are at close distance.
Things to remember:  Visit to Manchanbele or Tippegondanahalli Reservoir may need prior permission from BWSSB office at Cauvery Bhavan near Majestic as there have been alarming numbers of deaths & accidents in these waters. The waters are very deep right away from the edge of the banks and any curious trespassing or adventure may result in fatality. Localites even say that the water has quick sand and clay which are threats even for a seasoned swimmer. So stay on the banks and enjoy the blue lagoon.
