Hesaraghatta has one of the biggest lakes which fed water to Bangalore for many years before being dried up. It has a variety of Flora and many immigrant birds fly here every year.
Destination: Hesaraghatta, Karnataka.
Distance from Bangalore: Behind Yeshwanthapur, Peenya, Dasarahalli.
Route: There are many routes; we took the road from Gangamma circle – Abbigere - SOME Halli - Nrutyagraam - Hesaraghatta.
To Do: Ride amidst the cool, enchanting trees, fields, chirping birds and greenery. Visit the famous Nrutyagraam School of dance and adjoining hotel. Overall a pleasure early morning ride.
Stay: If you really want to then please contact the hotel adjoin to Nrutyagraam. I have heard it’s a good one but expensive.
Food: Bisi bisi thatte idlys with Chitranna and vade on the road side hotel!
Highlights of the place: Hesaraghatta should have been the corruption of Hasirughatta, meaning Green meadows, because the land is appropriate to be named so. An early morning ride or walk here can be a rejuvenating one. The Hesaraghatta Lake was once the major source of water for entire Bangalore. A grassland nearby is supposed to be house for hundreds of immigrant birds and bird watcher’s paradise.
Best time to visit: An early winter morning!
Places nearby: Bayalkere peacock sanctuary is nearby but not quite sure what is the condition of the place.
Things to remember: Take out your bicycles or bikes and ride on an early morning. You’ll feel awesome for sure!
